Why Humans Can Change And How Night Supports this idea Have you ever met someone who refuses to change their ways, and you get that thought in your mind that that person can't change; that people can't change? Well when you’re done reading this essay, you’ll know that people can change and how this is exemplified in Night. Night is an anecdotal tale of the Holocaust, documented by Elie Wiesel. In the book, Elie writes about his experience being a Holocaust survivor as a way to make sure that the Holocaust is never forgotten. This story is a profound example of how humans can be transformed through extreme circumstances, and despite the fact that some people would deny how people can be changed, this essay will ultimately prove that people do, in fact, have the ability to change. And to feel sorrow over an action you have already done would mean you would have had to change your mind on what you already did. Because if you didn’t change, then you wouldn’t feel regret at all. In spite of the fact that some people think that humans can’t change, this is clearly wrong, if not at least a major generalization. To say that all humans can’t change is absurd, especially when considering this has been proven wrong time and time again. An example of this is seen in an article produced by Psychology Today where author/therapist James M Kerr writes: “People have the capacity to change. However, they must choose to do the work needed to make change happen.” (Kerr). This article supports the idea by blatantly stating that people do in fact have the capacity to change; it doesn’t get more clear than that. To sum up everything that has been stated, although some may say that people cannot change, this essay has proven that people do in fact have the ability to change; this idea being supported by evidence from Night, personal experience, and statistical
