The Castle Friendship and Ponyville had been destroyed to ruins over the past few millenniums, particularly after Twilight’s fall. A valley had taken over with the help of entropy, but the remains of the castle were still (somewhat) in place. The accursed waning moon shone thinly, tearing a path for its light with feeble horns through the lethal-foliage of the various vegetation in the Everfree Forest, which had taken over Ponyville. And within the depths of the ruined castle, where the light reached not, move forms not met to be beheld. In the midst of the structural remains stood a statue, dedicated to Princess Twilight, ruler of Friendship, student of Celestia, and keeper of books. The statue was placed in her honour after her banishment to the stars, so her true self and memory could be remembered. She looked up at Twilight’s statue, whose eyes were blue gems that sparkled in the moonlight.
Oh, the stars, Twilight’s stars! Celestia couldn’t even look at them any more as it would be a constant reminder of what she had done.
Everything was her fault.
Celestia shook her head and refused to believe that. She was looking out for her ponies, her kingdom, the better of ponykind. As a ruler, she had to protect her kingdom, even if it meant betraying her love. She looked back at Luna who was crying by herself; seeing her sister here, in this place of ruin, put Luna in a pit of sorrow; but even Celestia knew that immortality wasn’t everlasting.
“Luna…” Celestia said, walking to her wife. “Please don’t cry. There’s something I have to do.”
With tears in her eyes, Luna mustered enough courage to look at her mistress. “What is it, dear sister?”
