The sea is composed of a large body of salt water that covers the majority of the Earth'[Inserted: the ]s surface (Dictionary, 2016). Hundreds of sea animals live beneath the surface of the water. Some are about to be discovered, but even though people already know them, others still make them [Deleted:s]curious when they do something that rarely happens in the world. Furthermore, it is interesting to discover new things and add new knowledge to what other people already know. Before, human beings thought that sea animals are just there to make their stomach full, but there is more to these sea animals than what they think. Researchers discovered this rare phenomenon in Christmas Island which got their attention. This rare phenomenon will be …show more content…
This experience does not always happen around us and only happens in a specific place. In addition, migration is the removal or shifting of a person or animal from one place to another (Webster’s Dictionary & Thesaurus, 2000, p. 621). Red Crabs migrate for a reason, and sometimes it’s because they need to find a new place to live or to develop their eggs. The seashore is one of the best places to find crabs. They are good at coping with the constant changes that the tides bring to life on the shoreline (Apse, 2016). The sea shore is a very habitable place for the red crab to live and to develop their eggs. Allison Shaw (2015) stated that some crabs are fully aquatic, some hang out on the beach and need to spend their time in the water, and some are fully terrestrial. All land crabs have eggs that have to develop in seawater, so all land crabs have to make some sort of trip back to the water. These Red Crabs can be found in rainforests for they prefer staying in the shade to protect themselves from the direct heat from sunlight that could kill them anytime. Furthermore, according to Agnes (2003, p. 314), [Inserted: ,]a rainforest is a dense, evergreen forest in a rainy tropical season. Moreover, the red crab only lives on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean, but there are about 120 Million of them there (Apsley et al., 2015, p. …show more content…
Some people say that black rats were involved in the evolution of the red crabs. They kept the red crab's population in check that by the time that they were already gone, the population of the red crab increased. However, along with the death of black rats, another species was introduced named the yellow crazy ant. [Inserted: s]When moving from one place to another, the red crabs move through areas overran with crazy ants that spray a defensive formic acid, which is deadly to crabs (Sullivan, 2010). Realizing that the loss of crabs could lead to some damages to the economy, many scientists are collaborating to come up with a solution on how to get rid of these crazy ants. Christmas’ Island’s authorities thought of poisoning these crazy ants. Although the plan was successful which decreased the number of crazy ants by 98%, they were still able to survive and go back to its previous
