Selena Quintanilla was born in April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. Raised in Texas with one brother and a sister. Selena was the youngest in the Quintanilla family. She was a singer, songwriter, spokesperson, actress, and fashion designer. Selena began performing in her family band as a child. Around the age of 10, she became the lead singer in the band. She was known as the “Queen of Tejano”, a type of Mexican music that sounded like country music. The Amor Prohibido Tour was the biggest tour for Selena. It was a total of 43 performances and lasted from 1994 to 1995. She visited Mexico, South America, and North America during this tour. This was when she released her last studio album, Amor Prohibido. Only one of Selena’s tour was a failure, but that was only because it got cancelled. It was cancelled because she was shot and killed by one of her fans.
