The Battle of Midway was military conflicts engaged between the Axis power and the Allied power, majorly between the Empire of Japan and the United States. The Empire of Japan, who initiated this battle, primarily involved the United States.

Technology & a new use of weaponry
American succeeded in cracking down Japanese strength with a decisive win at Midway by devoting fewer soldiers and weapons, the technology used and a new use of weaponry were parts of the key factors of American victory. The major weapons used by the belligerents consisted of carriers, battleships, heavy cruisers, light cruisers, destroyers, carrier-based aircraft and floatplanes. In my opinion, the battle of Midway, as a decisive change of the sovereignty in the Pacific Theater, is a remarkable turning point during the Second World War, which even influenced on the whole worldwide battlefield in 1942. Primarily, Japanese navy lost heavily in carriers and airmen at Midway, which resulted in the vanishing of their superiority and initiative in the Pacific. Furthermore, after the battle, the Pacific Ocean was dominated by the US carriers due to its main opponent, Japan, was weaken seriously. The domination by the US was critically decisive at that time because it primarily ended the war in the Pacific Theater and also aided allied strategy. The last point is required to consider the military outlook across the world in 1942. The situations appeared very bad for allies: The German army was smashing a Soviet offensive to regain Kharkov, and soon will begin a drive to grab the Soviet Union’s oil supplies in the Caucasus; A German and Italian force in North Africa is threatening the Suez Canal; The Japanese have seriously crippled the Pacific Fleet, driven Britain’s Royal Navy out of the Indian Ocean, and threaten to link up with the Germans in the Middle East (000). People could not imagine the circumstance if the Japanese and the Germans do link up. By the end of the battle, there were 3,057 casualties from the Japanese Imperial Navy and 307 casualties from American Navy. Additionally, Japan lost four of their best aircraft carriers, 322 aircraft, and one heavy cruiser (3), the U.S. lost a destroyer and the carrier Yorktown (4).
