Many people’s main wish in life is to be rich and successful, but do they ever actually accomplish it? People will just say that they want to be rich, but never do anything about it. Others will actually try to get rich and successful in whatever way possible. For example, in The Great Gatsby, all Gatsby wanted was to be rich and successful and he actually accomplished those goals, but he did not always fulfill his dreams in the best ways. For example, in chapter 7, Tom points out that Gatsby was a bootlegger to try and sway Daisy’s opinion of him. “I picked him for a bootlegger the first time I saw him, and I wasn’t far wrong” (Fitzgerald 133).
