Description: This MLCP we were asked to compare books and the topic of them being banned. "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" was banned in suburban Chicago in Glen Ellyn School District 41 from classrooms and school libraries, starting with the library at Hadley Junior High following the complaints parents of an 8th grade student made about "sexual content and inappropriate language" in the book (Taylor Malmsheimer). The issue of the book having contents of sex, alcohol, and drugs led to the controversy of banning the book ((Taylor Malmsheimer).
