Imagine you're in the year 1398, you are painting a picture but it looks all the same as the other ones. You look over at your friends and something makes them stand out. The strokes look different and there is a whole other perspective of the world we thought we knew. During the years 1300-1650 was when the Renaissance took place. The Renaissance was a period of big change when art and literature became popular and many advances were made.

The Renaissance was a terrific time for innovation and learning after the Middle Ages. This era of advancement occurred between 1400 AD and 1700 AD. The Renaissance occurred in post-medieval Europe. The prosperous age brought many advancements to Europe in various fields, such as astronomy, mathematics, and art. The Renaissance also made man question everything they practiced in the Middle and Dark Ages.
What exactly was the Renaissance? Well I’m glad you asked, the Renaissance was technically a ‘’rebirth’’ or ‘’revival’’ of art and literature, as some people would describe it as, and it had started in Europe around the year of 1400 and had lasted until about the 1700s. The Renaissance was a time of intellectual excitement, when art and literature blossomed and groundbreaking scientific advances were being made. During this period of time large parts of scientific and cultural advances were beginning to develop, and people were beginning to see themselves in a new way. The Renaissance changed man’s view of man in at least four areas: Art, Astronomy, Literature, and last but not least Human Anatomy.
Artists started to take pride in their artwork and began exploring new humanist themes in their art rather than focusing on the traditional biblical subject matter that was popular during the middle ages. Italian scholars and artists saw themselves as reawakening to the ideals and achievements of classical Roman culture. Renaissance art gave philosophers a different perspective on reality and this affected their writings from then on. Artists used the idea of symmetry and linear perspective which also led to people developing interests in math and science. Scientists and Mathematicians became inspired by the work of art being created just like how artists became inspired by philosophies and new theories coming into the time period.
The Renaissance was a period in time where everything started to change after the middle ages. During this historical period humans stared evolving by becoming smarter and inventing useful recourses that have changed the world. The renaissance was a life changing period which brought more joy to the world after conquering the dark ages. The Renaissance changed man’s view on the world by using Art, Science and Literature to make humans brighter and because of the rapid information they were gaining. Art during the Renaissance grew rapidly because of Leonardo Da Vici, and Michelangelo who changed the way people painted and drew by creating strategies which made art more interesting.
During the high Renaissance society looks at artists with exaltation. By the time the high Renaissance came around many artists had become very famous and successful for creating genius level masterpieces that inspire wonder in their audiences. Compared to society looking at artists as laborers during the Medieval Era, during the High Renaissance artists are viewed as master craftsmen and geniuses for their work with perspective, space and depth, the human form, and creating realistic illusions. The catalyst for this spark was known as the Renaissance. The renaissance started as a cultural movement in Italy in the late medieval period. It was thought to be the bridge between the middle ages and what we call the modern age. The movement gave rise to new intellectual thinking, through the rediscovery of classical Greek philosophy, such Protagoras, but who quoted “Man is the measure of all things.” This new thinking gave rise to new ideas in Art, architecture, politics, science and literature.
The printing press made things simpler on humans because before the invention, every paper or letter that needed to be copied had to be reprinted by hand rather than machine, resulting in a slow communication process as well as a much bigger workload for the average European - the printing press solved all of those issues. Also during the Renaissance, the growing influence of humanism lead to the creation of much more artwork as well as creativity within the culture of Europe. As individualism increased by humanism, painters such as Leonardo da Vinci made their mark in the Renaissance with their new style of painting known as “realism,” in which the painter made a picture with a much more real or 3-D impression of the image of humans in paintings. The history formed throughout the Renaissance period is one that is very unique to the European society. The Renaissance was a significant period of time where, art was painted, architectures were formed and Europe evolved considerably from the middle Ages. The three sections chosen represent: The Early Renaissance (1400 - 1500), High Renaissance (1495 - 1527) and Mannerism (1527 - 1600).
