The Triangle Waist Company Fire?
In 1911 one of the world’s most dangerous workplace disasters occurred. In New York City, of 1911 the Triangle Waist Company Factory set fire on the eighth floor. For many years people wondered what could’ve gone wrong to cause it, well that is what I will be describing today.
The Triangle Waist Company Fire could’ve been prevented in many ways. But first i’m going to tell you what was wrong with the workplace. Max Blanck violated many safety precautions that would be punishable today. Some are, cloth scraps piled up under the table, thin aisles between each line of machines, tissue paper patterns hanging from the ceiling, men smoking in the workplace, and many more.”Doors that opened inward instead of outward, overcrowding in work areas, and blocked exits could have also been blamed.”(The Story of the Triangle Factory Fire, lines 5-7) These mishaps in safety could have very well caused the fire.

Albert Marrin included that, after the fire, Croker went back to the building and he understood what was wrong with the workplace. He also said that ”Croker picked up half-drowned mice and put it in his pocket”, this represented that there was still a sign of life in that building.(Flesh and Blood so Cheap, lines 261-265) Some safety requirements that were changed and adjusted are, all fire emergency crews had to manage much longer and stronger ladders, this was to guarantee that they can rescue whomever may need it. Also all workplaces must have more than one available exit, including a fire escape, at all times. All workplace establishments must have a working fire hose or a working fire extinguisher.
