W.E.B. DuBois: an intellectual individual with a voice used to move those of black lineage to equality with an objective to prove discrimination towards colored people unjust. DuBois was born a free African American in the state of Massachusetts in 1858. He was the first black to earn a doctorate from Harvard and founded the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). DuBois believed in the concept that the “Talented Tenth” would lead African Americans towards equality. Undoubtedly, there are people who are in favor of Booker T. Washington’s philosophy more than DuBois’. However, Washington accepted slavery in order to gain job and schooling opportunities. W.E.B. DuBois’ philosophy would be more effective because DuBois did not allow any form of racism towards blacks, used the court system to move closer to equality, and fought for equality using the “Talented Tenth”. W.E.B. DuBois is willing to fight Jim Crow Law. Explicitly, DuBois will focus on the court to overturn Jim Crow Laws. For example, he plans on using the lawyers in the NAACP by challenging Jim Crow Laws in court, such as the right to vote, separate schools, and Blacks being forced to ride at the back of trains and …show more content…

DuBois made sure the racial inequality issues did not go unnoticed. Specifically, DuBois actively tried to prove Jim Crow Laws were unjust. To illustrate, DuBois and the NAACP actively worked to prove the laws inequitable and for them to be taken down. “Along with Ida Wells, he founded the NAACP. This group worked through the court system to prove that Jim Crow Laws were racist, illegal, and should end in the United States.” (Booker T. Washington vs W.E.B. DuBois) Understandably, DuBois defiantly disagreed with the Jim Crow Laws put in place and wanted to put a stop to it, and in order to do so, he brought it towards the court system. Summary, W.E.B.
