Wayne Gretzky Wayne Gretzky is a professional Canadian hockey player who never gave up on his goals. This led him to being the greatest hockey player of all time. When Gretzky was a child, he would spend all his free time practicing his hockey skills. What differentiates him from other athletes was that he is considered short as a hockey player. No one expected him to play well because of his height, and because he was born into a poor family. This means he has less time to practice. Yet he ended up becoming a really talented athlete. He lead the entire NHL in goals, assists, and points both in a single season, and in his career. For example, when he was playing juniors, he lead the league in goals, assists, and points and doubling the previous record. Also when Gretzky was 19, he made his debut in Edmonton. Although Edmonton was not a good team at the time, Gretzky was awarded the MVP of the NHL 4 years in a row. By the end of his career, he had over 2000 points which passed the previous record of Gordie Howe. These statistic demonstrate that Gretzky was great and these records he broke may never be broken again. Wayne Gretzky had to overcome obstacles to achieve his goal of being the greatest athlete. When he was on a team when he was young, he was bullied by other kids. Also parents of other children made fun of him by calling him selfish and a puck hog. Finally, he had to overcome being short because in hockey, He overcome these obstacles in order to achieve his goal Gretzky is the best athlete of all time because he is a good team player. He had more awards than 99.4% of athletes. He made some teams from really bad to really good because of him,LA and St. Louis. He even scored more points than basketball players and football players. Finally he knew he wanted to achieve this goal and he kept on trying and overcame obstacles to get that
