William Shakespeare /Sonnet 30/ Sonnet 18 William Shakespeare was one of the most world renowned English writers as well as a revered poet. Shakespeare wrote over 154 sonnets, and also wrote thirty-eight plays in his lifetime (“Kinsella”) William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, in Stratford-upon avon, which is now a large city on the Avon river. He was born into a wealthy family, his father was a leather merchant who went on to be an alderman and bailiff in later years. Even though William’s father was wealthy in the beginning, his fortune started to decline in the 1570’s. By the 1590’s William was a managing partner in the Lord Chamberlain's crew , which was an acting company in London(“Bio.com/William Shakespeare”). Early in William’s career he caught the attention of Henry Wriothesley, the Earl of Southampton. Fifteen of Williams thirty-eight plays were published by 1597.(“Bio.com/William Shakespeare”). By 1599, William and his business partners purchased land on the south bank of the Thames river in London. The land purchased in 1599 was the site for the globe theater. William wrote “ Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day ?” In which he is comparing the person's beauty to the beauty of the summer(“William,Shakespeare 1564-1616”). He also said “ Thou art more lovely and more temperate”, which means that the person is more lovely and constant than a summer day(“William,Shakespeare 1564-1616”). William also says that he believes that summer is to short, “And summer's lease hath all too short a date”(“William,Shakespeare 1564-1616”). William wrote “But thy eternal summer shall not fade” which means that the persons youth will not fade. Sonnet 30 is also one of Williams most loved poems ever wrote. William seemed to be in sorrow when he wrote this sonnet. William wrote “ I sorrowfully remember that I wasted the best years of my life” (“Kinsella”) . William appears to be regretting something that he did wrong with his life in this sonnet. William said that he normally never cries,but he cried. William also said that he can finally grieve over past grievances once again. Willaim also wrote “The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan”, which also show that William was in sorrow at the time of writing this sonnet
