Thesis:
Why do people have such unattainable dreams? The American Dream is unfortunately most of the time unattainable. This is shown through Gatsby’s character as he tries to relive his past with Daisy. He doesn’t understand the harsh reality that stand before him. Daisy is now married to Tom Buchanan, who’s family is extremely wealthy, and they have a daughter, Pammy. Gatsby doesn’t want to believe that his chances with the only woman he’s ever loved are gone.

The novel The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald focuses on the lives of Nick Carraway, Daisy and Tom Buchanan, Myrtle and George Wilson, and Jay Gatsby but more specifically their different ideas of the what the American Dream is and what it means to them.
