As a Resident Assistant, I understand a skill in time management is key. I prioritize my time by planning out my days the night before. By writing my schedule down, it shows the tasks I need to accomplish that day. Also, with planning my days, I do not waste time. Before I started planning my days, I would waste time and accomplish nothing because I did not know what I needed to complete. My schedules allow room for unexpected complications to arise. For example, if I forgot to print a paper for a class, I can spare twenty minutes to run to the library and print it off. My biggest time management strategy I developed was multi-tasking. It has proven to benefit me during exams too. Another strategy includes knowing how to utilize my time. I can designate three hours to study at the library, but sometimes would get distracted and found myself online shopping for the whole time. I learned to be productive during my time and utilizing each minute effectively. While being productive during the day, it allowed my evenings to be less stressful. I believe I have a planning personality. I thought it was odd that I planned out each day, but I learned my RA mentors do the same. Syllabus week tends to be a stressful week for me. I look at the syllabus and see assignments that I feel like I should complete that weekend. While, in reality, it includes assignments for a whole semester. I try to get as much work done the first few weeks of school while my classes are not too stressful . Exams, projects, and papers begin appearing and my stress level slowly increases. So, during the busy times, it is nice to have papers already completed. I am unable to be a procrastinator because I can not whip out a paper and receive a high grade.
