People living in countries that are poor are considered resourceful. Family´s in Africa that barely have enough food, somehow make due with what they have and find a way to eat. And with the limited supplies that they havem they still build houses and some live joyous lives with the little they have. But with the scenarios these people in poverty are placed in, they still make the best of what seems to be a living hell. They surpass the slim posibility of survival and are actually joyous with how little they have. Just like the children and family´s in Africa have to constantly be resourceful. We are faced with a character in a short story who also shows the theme of resourcefulness. In the short story ¨The Most Dangerous Game¨ Richard Connel shows the theme of resourcefulness in the main character Rainsford by pitting him against general Zaroff.

When Rainsford had fallen off of the ship into the sea, the way he took care of the scenario and worked against the odds of survival showed the theme of resourcefulness. Two life threatening moments when Rainsford had to be inventive and quick-witted were when he had created the traps from scratch in order to survive death by general Zarrof’s hands. Throughout the story there were several moments in which general Zaroff actually congrajulates, and compliments Rainsfords accomplishments in being so resourceful. Rainsford, like people in poverty, shows the theme of resourcefulness throughout the whole story. The author conveys the message that even when being pitted against un-beatable odds.
