ETHN 1100 Response Essay #1 For the second response paper, I will be covering the novel “The Latino Generation” written by the author Mario Garcia. This book goes over the generations of Latino Americans, mainly those whose families were immigrants and even farmworkers. For this paper, I will be going over some questions. I would say that there are things that the book does relate to past articles, books, films, and podcasts in which I have read, viewed, and listened to about Latinos. The first thing is it discusses education opportunities in which Latinos did not have the opportunities that Caucasians had, and I watched a video about it in the past. Another thing is that it discusses many Latinos being farmers and I have watched videos in the past which talk about Latino farmers. Finally, another thing is that it discusses many Latinos being illegal immigrants and I have watched videos in the past about Latino immigration in which some talked about being illegal immigrants. I would say they are the main things that the book does relate to past articles, books, films, and podcasts that I have read, viewed, and listened to about Latinos. I would say that there are impacts that the book does have on my personal understanding of Latinos in the United States. The first impact was that many Latino immigrants were illegal. Another impact is that many Latinos are farmworkers. Another impact is that Latinos are also being discriminated
