In the AP essay, Kevin has a well-developed paper consisting of sentence variety, proper identification of rhetorical strategies, analysis, and numerous supporting examples. Kevin displays sentence variety as he introduces his paper. He never starts his sentences with the same words. His use of sentence variety makes his paper smoother to read, and displays a more advanced writing style. Additionally, Kevin follows the prompt’s directions and “effectively analyzes the rhetorical strategies Adams uses to advise her son,” (College Board).
Adonay has made his best effort to focus at his work in the classroom. His reading has slow progress throughout the year. Although, he reads most-text specific vocabulary, he still needs to decode unfamiliar words using appropriate strategies like blending and segmentation. It is also beneficial to develop his self-correction strategy by attending to meaning while he reads a text. Adonay finds challenging to interpret a text he reads as he struggles to access independently some additional meanings from a text.
Chapter Two In Chapter 2, the author expresses that it is okay to make mistakes. I agree with the author, but I have a hard time practicing it. The author also provides a permission list of what we should allow ourselves to do.
While reviewing my first memo the three main issues that I saw was the unnecessary use of verbiage, ineffective use of transitions between sentences and paragraphs, and remembering to completely flesh out each test in the rule proof. The most helpful thing I can do in to help myself is just to reread my paper multiple times and even maybe have my peers to look at my paper with fresh eyes. Being concise and to the point is clearly my biggest problem. I have started to edit my paper down multiple times on different days to cut down my extremely long and over complicated sentences. I also think that if I go sentence by sentence then it will be easier for me to cut down on the words that are not needed for the sentence to make sense.

The first activity is interactive to create a basic awareness of the nonverbal concept of touch. The students will be paired up in two and sit facing each other, although their eyes will be closed. My experience in English 1010 was great. My writing skills were very poor at the beginning of the semester. I did not know how to write correct sentence structure. I had great difficulties making my sentences flow smoothly and clearly. I was not able to edit a paragraph for mistakes in grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

When an instructor passes out a writing assignment, I do not feel too overwhelmed because I feel like most of the time I am able to get writing assignments done decently. However, writing is not my favorite thing as I can see lots of room for improvement, so I still get a little intimidated by writing assignments. I think one of the biggest issues I have when it comes to writing is punctuation and grammar. There are times when I do not know if I am using things like commas or semicolons the right way, which makes it difficult for people to read my writing smoothly. Another issue I find very frustrating is that I have a hard time finding what to write when starting an assignment.
Transitioning from high school to college can be overwhelming. Before English 1301, I did not worry about preparing for college. I quickly realized that my little background in writing essays was not enough for college courses. Writing is not just a skill that I will need for English classes. In college, I will have to use effective writing skills in all my classes to complete research papers, essay tests and communicate with professors.

I developed as a writer more than I ever had in your class, and it definitely helped me in my college writing class this semester. I already knew how important it was to revise and continuously critically think about my writing, as well as the importance of multiple drafts and peer review. My English 110 class this semester was very similar to yours because we also did multiple drafts where I could revise my paper as many times as needed. The big difference was that the focus was on different genres and how to appeal to those, which was something new compared to my high school English courses.
In preparation for AP Language and Composition, I (and the rest of the class) was asked to write an essay to re-introduce myself as a reader, writer, and a thinker/learner to my peers. Quite frankly, I believe this is the first time I’ve done any of these things all summer. While I’ve done few, if any, of these tasks all summer till now, I’m going to try and reflect on times I did and see what I was like/who I was while performing them. While I barely read and usually only do when I have to, there are certain subjects and themes in books which make me interested in them compared to other books/novels. For example, I know this is a very stereotypical answer but my favorite books of all time are all the books in the Harry Potter series.

People take what they have experienced and express the feelings they felt through all the failures and the successes.
I hope to achieve many things in English class this final year of high school. Throughout my years of being educated in English, I have had many struggles, but I have also had good times of achievement. My goals for this year are very specifically thought out to help me improve the areas in which I have trouble. A main goal of mine for this year is to learn how to write essays in a more planned manner.
