Here is a quote from the book in which Krakauer demonstrates his personal opinion of McCandless and uses his own personal past actions he made as a young man to help show the connection between his younger self and Chris and why he has these opinions about Chris. This quote shows that Krakauer believes based on his own experience that Chris did not want to die and was not on a suicide mission. In The Oblivious Empire written by Mark Hertsgarrd, Hertsgarrd writes about how the American foreign policy is not a policy that benefits all. Hertsgarrd uses his essay to express his disappointment and to get across to educated citizens that there is a reason why other countries may not be so fond of us.
Because the author’s long-term thinking and determination helped him conquer the situational challenges he faced, unlike the other Wes Moore whose shortsightedness became his downfall, the purpose of the memoir is to persuade readers to work hard and overcome their obstacles. The other Wes Moore’s shortsightedness, especially regarding money, is what eventually led to his arrest and the end of his free life. One issue that contributed to Wes’s shortsightedness is that he was easily impressionable. In Missoula-Rape and the Justice system in a College Town by Jon Krakauer tells a series of events in the city of Missoula,home to an elite state university whose highly praised football team galvanizes a passionately loyal fan base. Between January 2008 and May 2012, hundreds of students reported sexual assaults to the local police. Few cases were handled properly by the university or local authorities. Krakauer's purpose was to show how rape victims are often not believed. One of the methods that Krakuar uses is pathos which is an argument of emotion.
Jonathan Edwards version of God was very aggressive and unforgiving. Insult after continuing insult, this does not seem like the Jesus Christ with the wonderful forgiving spirit. With the words, “God hates you,” repeated multiple times throughout the sermon, it is truly hypocritical that the God described as forgiving and loving of all would say “I hate you,” every five minutes. I personally feel like this is not the way God would like to be described, and that God would much rather liked to be showed as a forging and gentle spirit.
Chris McCandless was in his early 20’s, he was the kind of that guy that wanted to learn and experience life without all of the material things. He wanted to be independent from his parents and friends so Chris did something that would be insane for most of us humans but to him, it wasn’t. He went into the wild of Alaska for months, in fact, McCandless even thought he could make it out alive at the end of his journey. As a matter of fact, he was known as being a risk taker and enjoyed being out and about in the nature side of the world. Many would believe that Chris McCandless went into the wild to purposely kill himself; however, I myself believe that McCandless did not do it purposely.

Authors David Epstein and Malcolm Gladwell have opposing views on this topic. David Epstein, the author of The Sports Gene, says that natural ability is linked to success, rather than preparation and training. In “2BR02B” by Kurt Vonnegut,” Vonnegut maintains that we cannot put a cap on the population. The cap creates problems and deteriorates a much-needed stigma behind the idea of death. Death is and always has been the last experience a human has and it is their right to do so as they desire. Thus, this everlasting conflict in humanity supports that there can be no cap. In today’s society, we have former National Football League(NFL) quarterback Collin Kapernick who’s no longer in the NFL because of his protest against racial inequality. However, many people believe he is no longer in the NFL because of his talent. Kapernick led the 49ers to Super Bowl 47. Although they didn’t win, he threw for 302 yards with a touchdown and rushed for 62 yards. Therefore, he didn’t get kicked out of the league because he wasn’t good enough, but for sitting down during the national anthem.
