Reverend Parris begins to question Abigail about what they were doing in the woods. Betty still could not wake so Reverend Parris sent for Hale. Hale specializes witchcraft things. Hale believe that there is something supernaturally wrong with Betty. When Reverend Parris questions Abigail it he brings up that Abigail was let go by the Proctors and has been re-hired in months.
Parris is dynamic like John, but for the majority of the story he sacrifices his integrity like his niece Abigail. Not is it until the end of the story Reverend Parris realizes what he has done was wrong. " Go to him! He rushes out the door, as though to hold back his fate. Proctor!

Parris's repeated demonstrations of exceedingly selfish behavior don't help him.
Reverend Parris pocket hold several items which describe his characteristics. Reverend Parris holds a bible in his pocket for he preaches to his parish in Salem and describes himself as a servant of God. Parris keeps the mask of deception in his pocket because he disguises his thoughts and intentions from is people. Parris burns his pants with his tendency to tell many a white lie. Pointing fingers is rude and Parris continually points toward others to avoid blame because he is a coward.
Throughout the Crucible I think Parris knew all along that Abigail and the others weren’t being honest and made up the whole witchery idea to save themselves but he said nothing to remain his good reputation in salem because if his niece Abigail was proven to be lying than people would think less of

Reputation is something that can be left to linger around, haunting people 's lives for years. In the Crucible, Reverend Parris feels the effects of reputation first hand. Parris is a godly man who wants nothing more than to preserve his image. Parris’s motives are portrayed throughout the story when he catches his niece and daughter dancing the woods, a sign of witchcraft. Yet, after this he is more concerned with how he is being viewed instead of their well being.
