The Crucible In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, many characters changed from who the thought they were, to someone different. Reverend Parris didn’t want to assume that there We’re witches in Salem. As people started to be arrested, to be trialed, or hanged if they didn’t confess. In act four Parris niece Abigal ran away with all his money. When this happen he stared to realized that all the people arrested were good people. Parris was a hard believer that there was a witch in Salem. But he finally used common scene that they were being lied to. Parris believed that there was some typed of evil upon Salem. After assorting himself that it wasn’t only the devil doing. She told Perris that she couldn’t do it right now. And Perris said ,”Why not ? Now there were no spirits attacking her for none in this room is accused of witchcraft. So let her run herself cold now, let her pretend she is attack now, let her faint”(act 3 738-742). This shows how much Perris believe that there was a witch cursing people. Perris ask her to fake faint but couldn’t. This reinsures him that someone was sent to attack Mary
