Band of Brothers is written by Stephen E. Ambrose. This book is about the 101st Airborne Infantry Regiment during WW2. It tells the story of the U.S. Armed Forces through the eyes of a soldier. The author wrote this book to inform people about what it was like being a part of this war during its darkest times. Although it is biased from the view of a historian, Stephen E. Ambrose’s Band of Brothers is a strong and powerful book telling the insights of a U.S. war regiment during the peak of WW2. Stephen E Ambrose is a well-known historian and WW2 researcher. This is just the first of many missions for the Easy Company, but their most well-known mission is their airborne attack on the beaches of Normandy during D-Day, as well as their involvement in the Battle of the Bulge. They were able to utilize the element of surprise and thorough strategy to help aid the U.S. in their battles during the war. They were proven to play a pivotal role in both battles, but especially during the Battle of the Bulge where they deployed an airborne attack on the German soldiers, surprising them from above. The book concludes with the stories of all the surviving soldiers after the war. It tells the reader about what each soldier did after the conclusion of the war, which I found to be very interesting as it was one of the main questions I had as I was reading. Ambrose’s thesis for this book was to honor the soldiers of this very courageous and selfless regiment. Ambrose does a good job of honoring these great soldiers by proving them to be courageous and determined for their country.
