Social media can help families stay connected to distant relatives and friends, and can even promote family gatherings or other activities. For example, my family and I may have seen a friend's travel post on the Internet that sparked an impromptu trip together. However, social media can also have adverse effects on family dynamics and relationships, such as increased stress, and the potential for cyberbullying or other negative interactions. Since most posts on social media are of the perfect side, meaning they are embellished and only show the good aspects of life, this can create anxiety, stress, and other negative emotions for others. For example, I may be under a lot of stress at work, yet when I open social media, I see a perfect feed of other people's successes.Family members who also see these dynamics may compare and discuss their lives with yours. This can lead to feelings of jealousy and resentment, further increasing stress and potentially affecting how I communicate with them in the future. Thus, while social media may have some beneficial applications for families, it is important to be aware of its potential adverse effects and
