Review Of Richard Wright's Autobiography 'Black Boy'

If Richard Wright were writing an Autobiography entitled Black Boy about a black boy growing up in the U.S., in 2018 Richard would talk about the pluses and minuses that have happened throughout the years. There are many different issues Wright could and would talk about in his autobiography. He would talk about the pluses of moving forward, like the first ever African American President or how there are laws to stop discrimination towards Black American people. Those are some of the pluses to gaining these rights and historical achievements for all Black Americans but with all these great strides for a better future there still is hate and discrimination. The U.S. has not fully moved on from the time before the civil rights movement. The hatred towards Black Americans has just transferred not been abolished. It has transferred into the form of police brutality and white supremacists causing the life of an Black American to become living hell. There are many more things that have been a downside of being an African American like highest unemployment due to their ethnicity or how they aren’t given the same opportunities of those of white color but the three things I think Richard …show more content…

Wright grew up in a time where black people were given nothing, a time where Black Americans had no rights, no protection, they basically had nothing. With the Civil Rights movement creating a new way of living for all Black American people it created new laws and created a less discriminatory America. Wright would be proud to see the new way people have been changing the U.S., this would’ve been a great accomplishment for all Black American people which would’ve been an accomplishment for Wright. Wright had hardly any rights growing up as a kid and that was a big reason of what made him who he was today but it also made his life a nightmare in some cases, this is why it was so
