In dire need of paying off war debt, the British Parliament decided to tax the colonists due to the debt being their fault. Along with taxing the colonists, the East India Company boosted the income for the Parliament and benefited the George III by hurting the colonists economically by enacting the tea act. During the 1760s the British Parliament decided to pass many laws and taxes on the American Colonists. They did this because they were in debt from the French and Indian War. The colonists did not like these laws and created conflict with Great Britain. This conflict is what started the American Revolution. The American Colonists protested against the laws they thought were unfair.
The colonists had Authority for so long, until the British decided that they would intervene. The colonist had grown used to not being controlled so heavily, so when the British had stepped in they were against it completely. Because Britain had begun to put its hand in America’s business more often, the Colonists had begun to find this frustrating. Thus, creating the ideas and thoughts of forming a rebellion against the British. Soon after the Sugar Act of 1764 the Stamp Act of 1765 had been imposed, and this greatly affected the colonists.
I believe that the cause of the revolution was economic freedoms because the colonists had many taxes and economic violations by the British that lead to economic protests. According to the document “Road to War: Causes of the American Revolution”, the colonists could not trade with whoever they wanted because of the American Prohibitory Act. This prohibited all trade with colonies, and American ships and cargo could be treated as enemy property and sold. This lead to the revolution because this was violating the right to freedom, where colonists could own property. It was basically a declaration of economic welfare because colonists could no longer trade with Britain.
In document C, John Dickinson explains to his fellow colonists that Parliament never considered imposing taxes in the colonies until the period following the French and Indian War. Document A implies that the reason being was simply because Britain had dug themselves into a pile of debt due to aid from other countries and the expenses of war, and because the British felt that the colonies owed them for enabling them to freely use the Mississippi River, Parliament believed that imposing taxes for revenue from the colonies was just. However, Patriots believed otherwise. Salutary Neglect has been an active law in the colonies since 1696, and up until now they have been perfectly fine not enforcing British acts and policies, but all of a sudden colonists are forced into paying revenue on everything from paper (Townshend Act) to stamps (Stamp Act). Parliament even placed tax on British tea imports.

The American Revolutionary War stemmed from arising tensions between 13 of Great Britain’s North American colonies (original 13 colonies of the United States of America) and the British crown. The Revolutionary war had begun after three British ships were delivering tea and were ambushed by American colonists disguised as Native Americans. The disguised enraged colonists dumped all the tea into the Boston Harbor. This act occurred when colonists were furious the British had raised taxes to outrageous prices for things such as tea and postage stamps.
