The American Revolutionary War was a war fought for the future generations of America because current Americans saw a bright future for this young nation. These patriots wanted America to be a safe haven for their children and their children's children. The only way to achieve this was to break away from British rule and establish a new nation that would value equality and accept different cultures with open arms. Many historians have debated whether or not the Revolutionary War was necessary. The Revolutionary War was necessary in order for Americans to live the lives they live today. The war began in 1775 and to this day nobody knows how it really began. Nobody knows who fired the first shot on April 19, 1771 in Concord, Massachusetts but it was declared ‘The Shot Heard Around the World”. ( History of Massachusetts) It was labeled “The Shot Heard Around the World” because of the courage shown by the militia in the colonies against the strong British army. Then, the British Army was a known military superpower and the thought of the colonies small local militias going head to head with them was unthinkable and thought to be a bad idea. Despite these challenges, Americans fought for what they thought was right and it set the mood for the rest of American history. Without even meaning planning to do so these fearless patriots taught future Americas that when the going gets tough, you get tougher. They refused to be unfairly taxed, usable at British disposable and be thought as an underdog ever again. The American Revolution was not only a Revolution but a statement to the world that the colonies were more than a branch off of England but a future economic and military
