Strengths and Weaknesses In my rhetorical strategies essays I need to notice more on the prompt, choose better examples, deepen and extend my analyses, and set up my examples more. On the passage, I need to mark more on the paragraphs and annotate in the margins more. Doing this will help me to use better examples in my essay and write stronger analyses. To choose better examples, I will memorize the list of rhetorical devices and try to mark many of them in the passage. That will allow me to choose the best devices in the passage and will prevent me from using un-sophisticated devices or even making up new ones. Also, I need to go into more depth in my analyses and not paraphrase. Doing this will drastically improve my score, since analysis is the most important part of this type of essay. Furthermore, I need to set up my examples in each paragraph. I need to use context from the passage in order for the paragraphs to transition well. One thing I did well in this kind of essay was interpret the passages correctly. In order to have a plan for my essay, I need to make a short outline for my syntheses essays. Even writing which documents I am going to use and which categories they will go in will allow me to have a better idea of what I am going to write. Also, I need to make sure I address both parts of the conclusion (so what for now, so what for the future). The conclusion is necessary for this essay and I should work on making mine better to further enhance my essay.
