First Body: What: Allusion Pg. 2, Logos Pg. 37. How & Effect: Ehrenreich uses these personal, rhetorical strategies based on her experiences as a low-wage worker in the poor working class. The effect is that Ehrenreich is able to show the readers the conditions in which the impoverished work in and the daily obstacles that they face in life; also there is an appeal to logic and a reference of a poverty idiom. Thank You for Arguing, written by Jay Heinrichs is a novel written for the purpose of understanding, and employing rhetoric in one’s writing, speeches, and everyday life. Heinrich introduces different types of rhetoric used to persuade people, Heinrich cites examples of these to further explain his the different types of rhetoric. Really nice post Jose, it was a great explanation how you used the indirect approach in that persuasive email. I agree with you on how important is to be persuasive when we want to request or demand something from other people. On the second question, I think the best appeal to persuade buyers to make a purchase is ethos because ethos focus on credibility and buyers are willing to take a decision about buying products on the credibility and the benefit that they can get from that product. Even though pathos are focus on an emotional appeal I do not think buyers focus their purchases in an emotional perspective instead of credibility and purpose of the products.
When I look at my other pieces of writing, the “ Persuasive Letter” is the best one I could think of. As I look at the letter I can really tell I tried my best when writing it. I gave a lot of detail, and I did what the direction told me to do. Here an example from my work of how good I structure a sentence. “ I have come to realization that African American are more likely to be arrested, and receive more for a crime they commited than any other race”.

Effects of Historical Context on Rhetoric Whether it is a drastic contrast or minute variation, everyone has different types of selves encompassed within their overall personality, with each subdivision being applicable to different settings. For example, the manner with which you would engage your peers may not necessarily be the same as how you would interact with your superior. When amongst your peers, you may be more insouciant and possibly blithe; however, in the latter of the situations, you may be more formal and assiduous. The act of tailoring one’s persona to one’s audience is an imperative trait of an effective rhetorician.
Throughout this eight-week summer course, I have learned a lot more than I learned in my Rhetoric 101 class that was over the course of a whole semester. When considering a logical argument, I will make the consideration whether I can logically argue the topic without making a rhetorical fallacy. There, in my opinion, is no point to trying to argue a topic if the person knows that they will have no reasoning to back up their opinion, thus they have to commit fallacies.
