According to Daniel Yi, McDonald’s restaurants hosts fundraising events with local schools to raise money, but many critics argue that this is unhealthy for young children and these events are hosted mainly due to many schools being “so underfunded, they have to resort to junk food to raise money”. These events are exposing American youths to unhealthy foods that can cause many dangerous health factors in the future. In source B, we can see an advertisement for a McDonald hamburger which shows a baby’s face pressed up against the bun of a delicious looking hamburger. This advertisement can be used to directly support the fact that McDonald’s is exposing many young Americans to unhealthy eating choices from as young as the age of infants. As seen in Source D, McDonald’s uses directly targets kids to markets its products and make their product seem fun and entertaining to young children, which is, in fact, wrong since kids don’t have the mental maturity of an adult and can’t distinguish between healthy and unhealthy eating choices.
