Chris Christie, the New Jersey governor delivered his speech at the Republican National Convention on August 29, 2012 where he promotes the Republican candidate, Mitt Romney to deal with the issues in the U.S. to the Republican Committee. Christie contrasted the Republicans and Democrats procedures of handling the struggles in America in order to persuade the Republican Committee to vote for Mitt Romney in the 2012 Election. He integrates varied syntax,figurative language and a consistent proud tone to support his objective of the Republican Committee voting for Mitt Romney.

Christie applies antithesis to portray to the Republican Committee the contrast between the methods of the democrats withholding the truth about America’s economy issues to the American people, while the Republicans are direct to the people about it. It presents to the Republican Committee the choice of to follow the Republican's method of hearing the truth of the economy to resolve the issue or the Democrat's way of concealing the truth to the point where America suffers from an economic decline. He presents that insight about the Democrat’s in order for the Republican Committee to select Mitt Romney, a Republican candidate in the election rather than them to endure a democracy. In the beginning, he declared that “They said it was impossible to cut taxes in a state where taxes were raised 115 times in eight years...Three years later we have three balanced budgets with lower taxes. We did it”(34). Christie addresses this in a proud tone for the Republican Committee to recognize that he feels confident in the Republican party leading the nation. The Republicans still had faith to fulfill their accomplishment of cutting taxes for the U.S. despite the Democrats consistently raising the price of taxes. Christie applies this proud tone to present self assurance to the Republican Committee in voting for Mitt Romney since the Republicans managed to achieve an unlikely task of cutting taxes while the Democrats intensified the issues with America’s economy. In the ending of the speech, he keeps a proud tone from stating “We win when we make it about what needs to be done…”(P.60).
