Obama spoke to a diverse audience, including members of Congress, civil rights leaders, and students, at the unveiling of a statue in honor of Parks in the Capitol building. Through the use of rhetorical strategies such as allusion, repetition, and metaphor, Obama effectively communicated the significance of Parks' legacy and how it can inspire us to continue the fight for justice and equality. Obama began his speech with an allusion to Parks' famous act of defiance on a Montgomery, Alabama bus in 1955.
For a very long time, the voting rights of the citizens have been a problem in the US. It started out with only men with land being able to vote, and then expanded to white men, and then to all men. However, women were never in the situation, they were disregarded and believed to not be worthy enough to have the same rights as men. They were essentially being treated as property, therefore having no rights. But, in Susan B. Anthony’s speech, she hits upon the point that women are just as righteous as men.

I attended the speaker broadcast of Wendy Williams here at Panola College on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Overall I did like the broadcast but there was a few things Wendy said that I disagreed of her speech. One of the things were that she commented something about one of her friends being pregnant while in school. Having a kid during college or in high school shouldn’t and is not an obstacle on your path to graduation or your dreams.
