After I read the Bernie Sanders speech and Stephen Bothwell's rhetorical analysis for this speech I understood better how to make a reference in your personal rhetorical analysis, the structure of the rhetorical analysis essay. I understood how Stephen Bothwell analyzed Bernie’s speech and how each word in that speech hooked the auditorium. Bothwell identified the main theme of Bernie’s speech and emphasized it all time along with his rhetorical analysis essay. The rhetorical analysis sounds for me like the interpretation of what, how, where, when the speaker delivered his message to the auditorium.
Why is it that college is idolized even though you have to pay crazy sums of money? Owen and Sawhill authored the essay, “Should everyone go to College?” The authors use a wide variety of rhetorical devices in the essay, including ethos, pathos, and logos to persuade their audience to take another look at whether college is the right choice for them.
In the article, The World Might be Better Off Without College for Education, written by Bryan Caplan, explains how people do not apply what they learned in college into their actual jobs. He mainly focuses his argument on people who are deciding if they want to go to college or not because he is expressing if going to college is actually worth the money being spent. Through the use of rhetorical strategies like testimony, statistics, exemplification, and authority they help the audience have a clearer understanding of his argument. Throughout the article Caplan uses testimony to prove to high schoolers that a lot of people do not apply what they learn in college to their jobs.
Rhetorical Analysis Obama Throught President Obama’s speech addressing gun control, Obama effectively uses both the appeal of ethos and repetition in order to persuade individuals into agreeing with him on the topic of tightening gun control. To begin with, in order to increase his credibility on the affair and in hopes of persuading his audience, Obama resorted to the use of ethos. This is seen when he states, ”I’m not on the ballot again. I’m not looking to score some points” (Obama 2). This line refers to the 2016 presidential campaign, and more importantly the fact that Obama will not be, and cannot run again.
Agree or Disagree: Free Tuition in College Seventy-two percent of Democrats support the idea of the government taking over college and university payments, while 73 percent of Republicans oppose it. Independents are divided, 40 percent in favor and 42 percent is against free college (Cohen) . There is a smaller percentage of people who approves. Having a tuition-free college has pros and cons that both affects the people as well as the government.
