In the music video for Twenty One Pilots’ song Stressed Out the artists use rhetorical devices to connect with their audience. The speaker, or main singer, is trying to communicate to the audience (listeners) that growing has resulted in being stressed out and has a nostalgia for childhood. The credibility of the music video comes from the many people who have heard this song played countless times over the radio and even in places of business and grew to become familiar with the name of the artist, Twenty One Pilots.

According to author Peter Singer’s article "Down on the factory farm” he questions what happened to your dinner when it was still an animal? The commercial begins with three guys mentioning how they would like to relax for that day, however, a hybrid animal appears out of nowhere. This unexpected appearance leads to a chain of events where eventually the three individuals follow the animal and drink the beverage it gives them. In this passage, Charlotte Perkins Gilman highlights the theme that women must use their intellect or go mad through the use of literary qualities and writing styles. Gilman also uses the use of capital letters to portray the decline in the narrators’ sanity. This shows the decline in the sanity of a person because the words in all-caps is shown as abrupt, loud remarks. Gilman uses this method multiple times in her short story and this method was used twice in this passage. When the narrator wrote, “LOOKING AT THE PAPER!”, the major decline in her mental health was shown.
Hozier’s “Take Me To Church” Rhetorical Analysis Essay Hoziers hit song “Take Me To Church” is no ordinary pop song. After taking a deeper look at the video and lyrics I notice that the song has multiple meanings. The lyrics have an intricate amount of metaphors and the video utilizes a lot of symbolism. As soon as the song begins I notice right off the back that the lyrics, like every song we hear now a days, has references to drugs and sex. But as the video progresses I realize this is no typical pop song with a brainless melody.
