Martin Luther King Jr. and Thomas Jefferson were people who wanted to fight for the freedom of the people and wouldn’t give up until change has been made. Rhetorical Strategies are used to strengthen an author's argument by making the purpose clear to the audience. Martin Luther King used Juxtaposition to demonstrate that a situation doesn't have to be judged just because of how it looks. He used anaphora to express his dream of the change that could happen to make a better place for everyone. “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” He compares the color of skin and characteristics of people because he wants people to judge someone for their attitude then the color of their skin. “ I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.” He compares sons of former slaves and sons of former slave-owners because he wants a world where both of those sons would hangout together without having to be judged just because of their appearances. Both of them have rhetorical strategies in their text which made both their arguments more persuasive when talking to their audience. Thomas Jefferson's text had a lot of logic when it came to the reason why people needed to fight harder for their freedom unless they wanted it to be taken away. Martin Luther King's text however had emotion and he protested in a non violent manner which indicated to people that he only wanted to solve the problem they were having in a peaceful way without fights. His speech even influenced the government to focus more on racial equality and made congress move faster in passing the Civil Rights
