The switch of blades and the stern looking men seemed to be growing in numbers. Mary had crossed the border of life and was looking at the fringes of death through the eyes of these men. Richard Anderson showed no emotions. He enjoyed the fear his men imposed in the heart of Mary. The seconds were running to minutes and no words were said but the danger was imminent. It was a tough call but Mary decided to break the ice. “I am Mary Anderson and I am here not for trouble but to find out if Richard Anderson is who I think he is”. This statement had not fully gone out from her lips when one of the men grabbed her by the throat and wanted to squeeze life from her. She noticed Richard Anderson was at a corner holding a chat with three men. It was a brief and straight to the point discussion. Mary perceived that any decision they reached had a tone of finality. She quickly breathed her last prayers and waited for the worst. Richard Anderson walked up to her and said “Woman, this would be one of the last wishes you would make before we dim your light. What would you like to know about me?” Mary was silent for a moment but managed to ask for Water. “I have longed to know my Father. I would like to ask few questions. If this is the last wish that I would be granted; I would take my chances”. The more they spoke; Richard Anderson realized that this was his long lost daughter. It was a mix of Anger, Love and Pain for Richard. He would have loved to see his Daughter but he was the one causing her pain. His initial denial of not knowing Mary did not hold for long as his emotions got the better of him. He narrated a story that made Mary understand that her life was simply a twist of many shady
