Richard Milhous Nixon was the thirty-seventh president of the United States of America. Nixon was the only president to ever resign from office. Richard had many accomplishments in his time of office such as ending the draft and revenue sharing. Nixon was raised in a Quaker home with four brothers. He ended the American fighting in Vietnam and lowered tensions in foreign affairs in Asia and Europe. Richard Nixon was an outstanding President because he ended American fighting in Vietnam, lowered tensions between the U.S.S.R. and China and improved America overall. President Nixon was raised in Yorba Linda,California on January 9th,1913. His mother was Hannah Milhous Nixon and his father was Francis Anthony Nixon. Nixon was raised in a Quaker house, there was no dancing, swearing, or drinking, they only lived by common Quaker practices. He then moved onto Duke University School of Law and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in law. While a vice-president Nixon took on major duties in the Eisenhower Administration. Eisenhower suffered from a heart attack and stroke, this called for Nixon to take charge for a while. This helped to prepare Nixon for his future presidency and the responsibility he needed. Nixon struggled in his run for Presidency. He started to bid for presidency in 1960. He was going against a very powerful opponent, John F. Kennedy. In November 1960, Nixon lost to JFK. After the election he returned to his family in California with his family where he practiced Law and wrote a novel. While Nixon was home he was encouraged by many democrats to run again against Governor Pat Brown. Richard;s campaign against Pat Brown was a difficult one because he was pelted with criticism.
