Richard Nixon is the 37th president of the United States. His presidential term started from 1964 to 1974. He was a republican. He pursued important foreign policies that gave some tranquility to the United States. He did not only do good actions to this country but also bad. Like the watergate scandal. Where he recorded conversations from people that worked in the white house. Although he did mostly good things for the country the watergate scandal places him as a villain because of the actions he took.
Some good actions that Richard Nixon did were the external relationships with China and the Soviet Union. He visited both countries to settle some different politics view. He was successful and signed agreements with both countries like the First Strategic Arms limitation Treaty Talks. This agreement made the Soviet Union and the United States made them to restrain the creation of nuclear weapons. He was part of the Watergate Scandal. He taped some conversations from the democratic party. Being this done the democratic party didn’t like that Nixon was spying on them so then they called the FBI to investigate ow is that Nixon was recording their conversations. They found out that he had some recorders throughout out of the phone lines. This action violated the rights of the people who worked for the democratic party making Nixon look bad as a president. He wanted to not be involucrated on this scandal and wanted a solution so under growing pressure to hand over the tapes, Nixon ordered Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire special watergate prosecutor Archibald Cox.
