Early adolescence is the time of imprinting. Richard Ramirez is a man that would look deceivingly charming but the crimes he was convicted of shows he has no morals. Ricardo Leyva Muñoz Ramírez was born on February 29, 1960, in El Paso, Texas. He was the fifth and last child of Mexican immigrants Julian and Mercedes. His father was a former police man and the mother worked in a boot factory. She breathe in a lot of toxic chemicals and was given no benefits of wearing a mask. Two of the first four children were born with birth defects. The fumes became worsening when it came time for her last child. Ramirez entered her home by pulling off a screen that covered her windows and murdered her. Although they found fingerprints on the body and on the window he entered by, technology wasn’t as advanced as it is today. They could only link a suspect after they were already in the system for committing crimes. Richard Ramirez would use the same technique for each murder he would undertake. He would first enter the house late at night, and search for the couple. He would kill the male as quickly as possible with a 22 or 25 caliber handgun. If the female victim was to resist Ramirez horrific behavior then he would sexually assault the female before murdering her as well. He would rob the home before disappearing. Richard would go from city to city taking the lives of more victims. On march 17th, 1985, he collected another life. Marie Hernandez was the roommate of the victim. Ramirez first intentions were to shoot her but as she held her keys up to cover her face the gun blew a round. Luckily the bullet reflected off of her keys but she fell and acted as if she was dead. He went upstairs and took the life of Dayle Okazaki. As he tried to disappear again Marie got a good look at him and gave a description to the police. The same night that incident took place he found another young women to follow home. She exited the freeway and asked why he was trailing her. Her name is Si Lin Yu, he forced her way into her vehicle and shot her right off the Santa Fe freeway in Los Angeles. The police recovered bullet cases that were the same from each murder that night and ran tests. 10 days later her murdered Vincent and Maxine Zazzara in their home. The male victim was shot in his sleep and the woman was tied up as Richard ransacked the home. Maxine freed herself and grabbed the shot gun under the bed.
