There are so many topics I believe that Richard Wright would've talked about today that it is hard to narrow down to just three. If someone told him that we would have a black president in the next century we definitely would have looked at you like you were crazy but if he were here today he would be proud of how much better we have come today. We have improved as a country today for equal rights and treatment of black people but we also still have a long way to go for we are not perfect. For example he would be very ashamed how black people are still getting killed just because of their skin color. He would also be disappointed that blacks are still getting paid less statistically less than whites considering how many jobs Richard had growing up. Richard would be shocked today to discover that we have a black president considering the way he and other blacks were treated back in his day. It was hard enough for places to hire him just because of his skin color. But I think with a black president it would start a new chapter in american history to him. For example the Trayvon Martin case where the young man was killed because of racial profiling where the man that shot him though that he had a gun. He thought he had a gun because he was black and this case caused a lot of outrage in the community. Another instance was when a man named Oscar Grant was shot in the back by BART police even though he was on the ground, handcuffed, and unarmed. Even more unfortunate was that George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin was only on trial for one month before he was acquitted because the jury did not believe there was enough evidence to convict him.
