One of the most impressive and influential skills that someone can have is the ability to give a speech in which they can convey their message to their audience along with keeping the audience attentive. Many factors play into the ability to deliver a good speech to a crowd. First, the speaker must be able to grab the attention of the audience. Then, the speaker should build their credibility about the topic that they are speaking about if it is not obvious. After this the speaker will begin to explain what the main idea or ideas of the speech will be and proceed to go into more depth about each one of the ideas. He then continues into introducing the robot “Romo” that he is describing. He once again creates reliability with the audience when he explains how everyone has an iPhone and he pulls one out of his pocket and tells the audience how the iPhone will be the brains of the robot. Rinaudo uses humor again when he starts demonstrating how the robot works. Another key technique good speakers use to keep the audience attentive and interested is involving the audience. Rinaudo involved the audience by having someone who was sitting in the front row control the robot. Rinaudo signals that his speech is concluding when he states “I want to finish by telling you” and proceeds to conclude his speech. He reiterates his main idea about how his company is pushing to continue to design small robots. Throughout the speech Rinaudo did an excellent job with his body language, his eye contact with the audience, and the projection of his voice. His gestures were good but not too distracting.
