In the adaptation of the novel Fahrenheit 451, very specific actors and celebrities were chosen to play the lead roles in the movie. The producers chose James Harden of the Houston Rockets to play Guy Montag for many reasons. James, like Montag, went from just contributing in his society and going along with what other people said and being a small role, to breaking out and being a greater role and an influence. Once James Harden left the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was suppressed by Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, he left and joined the Rockets and became a superstar and someone who mattered in the NBA. That is just like when Montag left the firehouse where he was being taunted and held back by Captain Beatty, and going out and wanting
This quote alludes to Montag's robbery of books from the old lady's home. Montag, feeling remorseful, depicts his activities as an automatic real reflex. He depicts his wrongdoing as programmed and claims it includes no idea on his part. He accuses his hands for a few different wrongdoings over the span of the book. Montag sees his hands as contaminated from taking the book and depicts how the ¨poison functions its way into whatever remains of the body.¨
(MIP-1): At the beginning of Montag’s antihero journey, he starts as a normal person in society. (SIP-A): Montag has an important role in his community and agrees with society and its rules. (STEWE-1): Montag has always worked as a fireman because his “...grandfather and father…” (49) were also firemen. He naturally felt the need to run after them on the road they were taking. In the end, Montag became a fireman himself.
In the book Fahrenheit 451, the author, Ray Bradbury makes many predictions regarding what our society will become in the future. He says we will not value life, relationships, and higher order thinking. There are frightening similarities between our current society and Montag’s and while there are certain differences, we are doomed to become Montag's society unless something is done to stop it. Some aspects of Montag’s society in Fahrenheit 451 are that they don’t value human life, human relationships, or higher order thinking.
In society, some people have conflicts with things and people around them. In Fahrenheit 451, the main character, Montag, has to burn books for a living. Montag’s life began to change when he has a decision to steal, hide, and read the books, or turn the books in and act like everyone else. Ray Bradbury shows Montag’s conflict with his wife, a friend, and technology in Fahrenheit 451. Bradbury uses Mildred, Montag’s wife, to show how everyone there is like robots.
And then he was a shrieking blaze” (Bradbury 113). Montag’s last encounter with Beatty pushed him over the edge by first threatening to find Faber and kill him, which made Montag turn off the safety switch (STEWE-2) After killing Beatty, the government labeled Montag a criminal. “He was three hundred yards downstream when the Hound reached the river” (Bradbury 133). Montag acts against his society by running away from the punishment they have decided to give him. Montag did all of this because he was also looking for real people, people such as Clarisse.
The perspective is third person limited omniscient, where it only shows the insight of Guy Montag. The perspective could easily be considered highly subjective because you only have insight into Montag’s mind, but from how I am reading it the story is not highly subjective at all. The important ideas are received as if you were there in Montag’s life. You understand how important book burning is to the society and how dangerous it could be to break the rules of having books. The narrator does not have an agenda because they are going off of Montag’s life of what he thinks and says, and they have no control over what he does.
Clarisse McClellan is the most significant character in the novel Fahrenheit 451. Clarisse plays a huge role in the storyline as she is the reason of Montag’s metamorphosis. She does this by making Montag question his surroundings, being a role model and changing Montag’s emotions towards others. Clarisse’s role and impact on Montag makes the most Important character.
(MIP-2) From certain experiences, Montag comes to realize that he’s not actually happy with his life because he discovers that it lacks genuine, valuable, or humane relationships, eventually driving him to find the truth about his society by making him think about and question it. (SIP-A) Montag realizes from his experiences with Clarisse that his relationships in his life lack genuity, value, or humanity. (STEWE-1)
Then Montag went and did the worst thing possible, he read a poem to Mildred’s friends, Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles. After he read the poem, he fled the house and went to turn in a book to Beatty. What he didn’t know is that the ladies have turn in an alarm and Mildred did too. The firemen, Montag, and Beatty made their way to Montag’s house. Beatty reveals that he knew all along that Montag was lying and made Montag burn down his own house.
The bomb-ravaged city may never return to its former glorious structure from the ravaged wasteland that it is known. But, for some peculiar reason, Montag liked it better this way. The only thing he disliked about the wasteland is the burnt bodies the group of intellectuals come across every so often. They bring back horrible memories to him about the old lady that was burnt because of the firemen. Montag shuddered at the memory trying to shake it away.
One thing missing from Guy’s society is having the freedom to make there own choices. Montag feels like it wasn’t his decision to become a fireman. He felt that because his father and grandfather were firemen, he had to carry out the tradition and wasn’t able to make that choice for himself. Guy tells Mildred, “‘Thought!’ he said.
(AGG) If there is ever a society that has big problems, will someone ever speak out against it to make a better life? (BS-1): Montag is an average fireman in society, who fully supports the world he lives in. Montag, the average person in his society, is a fireman who will always back up his community. (BS-2): Montag comes face to face with regular people in society who make him mad at and question his society. (BS-3)
Keep in mind that Montag feared the mechanical hound. Therefore Beatty breaks the news to Montag about the hound which alarmed Montag. Later when Montag makes the scene at his house, Beatty summons to contest Montag telling him he is ordered to burn down his own house. A bit after Beatty starts to strong arm Montag and imperiling Faber. Beatty tells Faber he is going to trace Faber.
Montag has to burn his own house down. Beatty made him burn down his house due to having books in the house. If Beatty were to not burn down his house and that the police would be watching him. Once he burns his house, he then burns Beatty in order to escape. He then goes to find Faber in order to get help.
