Did the feud actually end in Romeo and Juliet? The hero position is that the feud did end. This is because in the end of the story, Romeo and Juliet die together in the tomb, and are later carried out for the funeral ceremony. Even though their families have been at each other for decades, their children's deaths have opened their eyes and have shown them they need to honor their children.
The playwright “Romeo and Juliet” contains gang affiliations such as gang fights, harsh disputes and problems between the two houses, and to achieve what they desire no matter the cost. “Romeo and Juliet” contains gang fights because there are two houses; the capulets and montagues who always fight when they meet in a public place. First, the conflict that strikes Romeo and Juliet’s love mostly is because of their authorities. As this external force or even feud causes the couple to marry each other in secret, “Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow, By one that I’ll procure to come to thee” (62). Romeo is a complex character for many reasons, the last reason being that he helps to create and advance the theme of the story. The theme of the play, “Romeo and Juliet” is that love conquers all. Romeo helps prove the theme by doing whatever it takes to be with his one true love, Juliet. When Romeo learns about Juliet’s rival family, this doesn't stop him from seeking her out. He is led by his love for her and believes this will protect him from the wrath of their feuding families.

I believe that the rivalry is the antagonist because had the rivalry not been in place Romeo and Juliet they would have been able to marry each other without having to hide the relationship.
