As I approached my senior year of college, my relationship with Hannah had grown into something amazing. I had known for awhile that I wanted to marry her, but I started to think about the timeline of it all and when would make the most sense. After toying around with several ideas, I decided that sometime over the summer after I had graduated would be best. While I was home on leave after graduation, I went ring shopping with my parents. We visited Rivard Jewelers in my hometown of Lexington, KY. It was here that I found the perfect ring. The next step would be to ask Hannah 's father for his permission to marry her. While a few different ideas popped into my head, I ultimately decided that I wanted to pop the question at one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Washington, D.C. The scene of the crime is Joe 's, an eatery that is notorious for its stone crabs. We dressed to the nines on that wonderful July 8th night and headed to D.C. I was very nervous on the car ride over and missed the turn three times. We were close to being late and Hannah 's patience had definitely evaporated upon my third missed turn. Finally, we arrived at the restaurant. I had reservations so we were seated right away. I could not control my nervousness and Hannah could definitely tell that something was going on. I thought about the perfect time to ask her and finally decided it was better to do this sooner rather than later. I left the table and approached our waiter and told him that I was going to propose and was wondering if he could bring out some champagne or something. He was happy to, and I headed back to the table awaiting his cue. At this point Hannah was begging me to tell her what was going on, and finally when I noticed the waiter heading towards the table I dropped to one knee and asked Hannah to marry me.
