I work for RMI & Associates a Public Practice Firm in Calgary. Our firm mission statement is to provide Professional service with a Personal touch. I am a senior accountant at RMI & Associates. Part of my job responsibilities are to prepare Notice to Reader files, Bookkeeping, Training new employees, Bank Reconciliation, Assisting firm Partner in Review Engagements, Preparing Personal tax returns and meeting with clients. In my role, I regularly communicate with clients, as part of our mission I ensure I respond in a timely manner and do my best to serve the clients. During my CGA studies, I was assigned a project in our firm that, the choice was to me made whether our firm should keep the bookkeeping department or should it be outsourced. In order for me to provide a recommendation firstly, I performed SWOT analysis on the bookkeeping department. I collected information on how much each client is billed for bookkeeping services. After collecting data on Income earned, I collected the data in regards to salaries paid to each bookkeeping department employee. In addition to salaries paid, all other cost related to run a department is collected as well. I also considered the synergy created by bookkeeping department that is the new Notice to Reader clients, new trainee hired etc. After collecting all of this information, I performed sensitivity analysis to find out whether to have Bookkeeping department in the office or to outsource. After analyzing the data with our firm Partner, We have decided to keep the bookkeeping department internal instead of outsourcing. …show more content…
