Although Somaly Mam was sold into sex slavery, she managed to pick up her broken pieces and make herself stronger. She became the voice of many victims that are sold into human trafficking. Much like a mom caring for her children, Mam becomes the protector of these victims and opens an organization, AFESIP, who shelters heals and rehabilitates these broken lives. As Mam continues to reveal the situation in Cambodia she receives support from Queen Sofia, celebrities, and distinctive organizations. People are awakened by her story. It is an eye opener of how the government handles the sex market.
“The Road of Lost Innocence” also demeans authority figures such as police officers, soldiers and highly important figures of society.
