Robert E Lee worked as a U.S. Army General he played an important role in the American Civil War as a general and as a West Point commandant. He mostly lead the Army of Northern Virginia throughout the war. He started leading the Army of Northern Virginia in June 1861. Some of General Lee’s famous battles and campaigns was of the battle of Fredericksburg in the December of 1862, the Peninsula Campaign within March through July of the same year, and his greatest success, the victorious battle of Gettysburg that was fought July 1’st through July 3’rd in 1863.
