Crippling Absences “Laugh and the world laughs with you; Weep and you weep alone” (Ella Wheeler Wilcox); loneliness is an amplified absence away from the people one cares about. S/he lives and smiles with the those s/he cares deeply for, only then one hides away from the darkest corners of the mind. Alone, one wallows in deep thought, becoming numb from loneliness and feeling transparent.
Wallowing in ominous thoughts causes pain and scars; not simply skin deep, this pain will burrow its way into the mind, where it poisons the thoughts.“It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone” quoted by Rose Kennedy, the mother of Robert F. Kennedy. This amplified absence causes loneliness, which vilifies the mind against itself.One whose mind vilified itself, who battles every day with the demons no one else sees, succumbs once alone. Together with friends leaves no time to succumb to inner demons. Friends snatch time from the beast and helps forget the imperfections of oneself. These people feel as if no one cares about them, as popularity doesn’t always equal care. “The loneliest people are the kindest. The saddest people smile the brightest. The most damaged people are the wisest. All because they do not wish to see anyone else suffer the way they do” (anonymous). When spending time with people, a person has no time to feel like a bother, especially if friends pull one into a hug and whisper s/he matters to them. The only time spent with friends causes an individual to feel as if s/he matters. With others, one can trounce the inner demons and be
