There are many meaningful texts in the world today, most of them being poems. Steven Adams explain, “Poetry is a form of literature that uses aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language… to evoke meanings” Often, meaningful poems are set in rural or natural settings. This is because there is a sense of peace in a natural setting. In a very busy and complex age, peace is much needed. Robert Frost is one of America’s most loved and respected poets. Many of his texts are meaningful poems set in rural or natural areas. Birches, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, Mending Wall, “Out, Out-”, Acquainted with the Night, and The Gift Outright are all poems by Robert Frost set in rural or natural settings that are very meaningful. To start, Birches, by Robert Frost is a very meaningful poem because it is set in a natural setting. In today's world, everyone is so busy and has no time to relax. Being busy is not a bad thing, but it is not always a good thing. Karen Heissman expounds, “Being crazy-busy implies stress; and our body can only take so much pressure before it activates its stress response and runs on survival or panic mode.” People need time to relax and give their body a rest. In this poem, a man takes long walks at the darkest hours of the night. Frost tells us, “I have been one acquainted with the night. I have walked out in rain-and back in rain. I have out walked the furthest city light.” So a man is walking alone at night with nothing distracting him. He walks out past the city limits as to eliminate all the distractions of the city. This creates sort of a calm and peaceful mood. These midnight walks create a great time to think and reflect for this man. He has nothing to worry about and no distractions to bother
