While America was still in the Gilded Age, the industrial boom of America happened right alongside. The years between 1865 and 1900 saw many monumental changes, including the exponential expansion of America’s railroad system. With government incentives of land and money, railroad companies worked hard and laid miles and miles of new track down on America’s land. Most notable of these track was the Transcontinental Railroad. With the government giving the Union Pacific Railroad and Central Pacific Railroad land and money grants, construction was finished with record speeds.
A. The invention of rockets is totally linked with the invention of 'black powder '. Most historians of technology credit the Chinese with its discovery. They form their belief on studies of Chinese writings or on the notebooks of early Europeans who settled in or made frequent visits to China to learn about its history and civilization. It is possible that, during the tenth century, black powder was first constituted from its primary ingredients of charcoal, sulphur, and saltpeter.
The rise of the Space Race started as the result of World War II when the Americans and Soviets went for the quest of discovery to find out how the Germans created one of the deadliest destructive missiles at that time; the V-2. During the end of World War II, Hitler asked his rocket engineer leader, Wernher Von Braun, and his team to create a rocket missile that could save the Third Reich. Von Braun and his team tested many designs and prototypes of rockets trying to increase their distance and power. Finally, through their effort, Von Braun successfully created a rocket that could travel over 200 miles. This rocket was called the V-2, after being created Hitler decided to attack England by launching the newly created V-2.
The space race was a part of the Cold War. The space race began as the Soviet Union sent Sputnik and the first man into space. Sputnik was launched on October 04, 1957. Sputnik is world’s first artificial satellite. The word Sputnik means satellite in Russian.
1920: Technology/culture: During this time of year, a decade of new inventions were introduced into society directly after World War I. Silent movies and Henry Ford's automobile industry were invented to help the community enjoy their new livestyle with new technology. Americans bathed in economic prosperity allowing them to use more fasticated technology and optimise their liesure time, after World War I. More and more people began to spend more money as they became richer. They basically invest this money for a new infrastructure such as roads and bridges, holiday resort and also tourism. Automobiles were also became rapidly popular as they were being invented.
In addition to the space capsule the rockets used for Project Mercury where also equally impressive. For Project Mercury there were two different types of rockets used to support this program the Mercury-Redstone rocket and the Mercury-Atlas Rocket. The Mercury-Redstone rocket was originally from the Army Redstone and Jupiter-C missile’s and was modified to meet project objectives. The modifications included increased fuel tanks, newly designed engine, new instrument compartment in the upper section, a control system, an abort system, and new instrumentation to relay information on the performance of the rocket.
This quote describes the result of the first rocket. As it is clearly states that the rocket was a fail. The design and construction of the rocket did not succeed. The author shows sarcasm in Roy Lee´s dialogue, which shows that they weren´t happy with the outcome. Quentin is taking note of what happened this round, most likley so that they can build something better on their next try.
Railroad and Transportation in the 1800’s There were many ways to transport in the 1800’s, railroads being one of the most popular. Railroads were used in the 1800’s for transportation of goods and people. In the 1800’s, it was harder for them to transport places than it is now. Then, people would have to walk, but now there are cars.
During the early modern period, when developments in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biology, including human anatomy transformed the views of society about nature. There was many different methods that sparked changes and many conflicts happening in the late 18th century and throughout the 19th century. The Scientific Revolution and The Enlightenment caused sparks and mostly conflict but changed history for sure. In the Scientific Revolution was a concept used by the historians to describe the emergence of modern science in the 18th century.
The period between 1945 and 1989 saw significant advancements in both space travel and information technology, which revolutionized the way we explore space and conduct research. The Soviet Union's launch of Sputnik 1 in 1957 marked the beginning of the Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States. Rapid advancements in rocketry and propulsion systems were made, ultimately resulting in the US landing the first humans on the Moon in 1969. Reusable spacecraft, such as the US Space Shuttle, made space travel more cost-effective and accessible. Additionally, many artificial satellites were launched for communication, imaging, and navigation purposes.
The Wright Brothers certainly proved that they would not stop, they would keep going. Their most famous accomplishment was being the first to build an airplane that was called The Flyer. Many people at the time doubted that flying machines could even exist. Wilbur was born on April 16, 1867, on a farm by New Castle, Indiana. Orville was born on August 16, 1871.
The Space Race While the Cold War was going on the Soviets send their first probe to orbit the moon... Luna 2.Then in 1961 the Soviets send the first man to orbit the Earth (Yuri Gagarin) flying in the Vostok 1. (“Apollo 11”) A month later on May 5th the first American was sent to space (but not to orbit.)Apollo 8 was launched from Cape Kennedy at 7:50 A.M. on December,21,1968,Apollo 8’s mission goal was to orbit the moon. It was a successful, mission (Udvar).
In part two of chapter five is all about Robert Boyle’s discoveries. One of Boyle’s experiments made him believe that he had created gold by combining silver, mercury, or lead to make something that had the appearance of gold. What he didn’t know is that he actually created iron pyrite, also known as fool 's gold because of its appearance. In 1689, Boyle believed to be closer to discovering the secret and did eventually succeeded in making a red powder but when he died in 1691 Isaac Newton wrote to John Locke asking him if he could find the powder and send it to him. He did eventually find it but had to write again because he didn’t known the use for it.
Slowly after the 1900’s different types of planes were being made and they had certain purposes. Big sturdy planes carried a lot of cargo, long thin planes carried passengers. Now almost everybody has rode a plane, it is really an amazing mode of transportation! The Wright Brothers changed the way aerodynamics works by, teaching thousands of pilots how to maneuver a plane.
This invention was the start of the Jet Age. Aviation industry took some time to rebuild after WWII. Jet aircraft saw combat on the German side of the war, and the U.S military immediately showed interest in this technology. However, post-war budget cuts prevented the military from investing in this venture.
