US v. Lopez was a decision handed down by the US Supreme Court in 1995. The case was significant because it was the first ruling to set limits on Congress's power under the Commerce Claus in the Constitution since Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal. Lopez, a student was caught with an unloaded weapon on school grounds that he was allegedly selling. He was arrested under the Gun-Free Zone law. Lopez argued that this law was unconstitutional as it blocked interstate commerce.

In the chapter Negocios, readers get background on the father’s immigration journey to the United States. We see the father struggle to financially, mentally, and physically. While reading the chapter Aguantando we saw the family struggle as well and assumed that the father was living this fancy life in the states. The family was extremely poor they barley had enough money to buy food for them to eat. In this chapter the father appeared to be the bad guy because he did not send money or come back to bring the rest of the family to the United States.
In the early to late 1920’s the U.S. was struggling with many prejudices, immigration problems and flaws within the judicial system. A combination of these things contributed to Sacco and Vanzetti’s case which towards the end, gained international exposure and popularity. Both men were Italian immigrants who came to the U.S. in their youth in search of work and a better life. Sacco was no stranger to hard work and when he came to the U.S. nothing changed. He worked his way up so that he had a family, made a decent living and had good savings.

Robert Pattinson came to America 1750s to get more resources so he could become rich and get more land. One thing that Gilles Marini traded a lot of is fur. Gilles along with the French traveled over the Appalachian Mountains to get more land. Taylor Lautner and the other natives were getting squished because more and more French and British were coming to America so the natives were losing lots of land. Robert had to cross the Appalachian Mountains to get to Ohio river valley.
I have mixed emotions about Andrew Jackson being removed from the 20-dollar bill. I’m not a fan of change and changing the face on currency is a big move for the United States of America. It seems almost ironic that the U.S. is switching the face of the 20-dollar bill from Andrew Jackson a former president who owned slaves in the early 1800s, to Harriet Tubman who was a slave in the 1800s and is well known for her involvement in the underground railroad. I will admit I think this is great progress for the United States of America as we continue to make small changes that can make a big difference.
Hi, I'm Vito. I will never forget the day. it was Monday january 1st 1892. It was a cold gloomy night, very miserable. The ship angrily rocked back and forth, making its way to the land of opportunity.
In ancient Egypt, the esteemed pharaoh Thutmose III is known as one of the greatest kings of Egypt. However, even with his many incredible accomplishments, he is still one of the greatest sinners in history. He could belong to many of Dante´s many circles of hell, but there is only one true place for this sinful king to dwell in the afterlife. A possible level Dante's hell that Thutmose could reside in is Limbo.
Bob Dane, the Executive Director of Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), believes that the immigration system is broken and in need of repair and reform. He said that FAIR’s positions are on immigration policy not immigrants themselves. But I struggle with this statement because immigration policy and immigrants are directly intertwined. You cannot influence immigration policy without affecting the lives of immigrants everywhere. Since my group is researching whether religious and faith-based organizations should be free to serve illegal immigrants regardless of their legal status, we asked him about the relationship between immigration and justice.
Americans had rarely accepted outsiders as equals, and that was the case with immigrants coming to the U.S in the 1840s to the 1920s. A time in America where immigrants were not considered inferior to native white Americans did not exist. The hatred of anything non-American, especially with the coming of World War I in 1914, would only cause more Americans to despise immigrants. Part of this was rooted simply in racism, which existed towards groups other than African Americans, but much of it was simply that Americans considered themselves the chosen people while everyone else was below them. Thus, despite immigrants being accepted into America, those immigrants were still treated far worse than white citizens between the 1840s and 1920s, for the prejudice against them was obvious even in the laws created.
America’s Diverse Population In the nineteenth century, rates of immigration across the world increased. Within thirty years, over eleven million immigrants came to the United States. There were new types of people migrating than what the United States were used to seeing as well. Which made people from different backgrounds and of different race work and live in tight spaces together; causing them to be unified.
In the year 1990, my father and his family emigrated from Vietnam to the United States of America with the intention of seeking opportunities for a better life, as well as escaping the Vietnam War. The migration was a long, strenuous situation for him; he came to America without money and knowing how to speak English. Thus, he tried his best to learn English and find ways to earn money to have food. The reason for his success in America was his attitude towards the situation; my father’s objective was to become prosperous by studying and working hard. Furthermore, his determination to achieve the goal was very high.
This is about you. This is not about your brother-he abandoned you remember? He left you. He doesn 't care about you! None of them do!
