On June 13, 1901, two members of one of Montreal’s wealthiest families were both shot and killed. Ada Mills Redpath, widow of the late industrialist John James Redpath, and her son Jocelyn Clifford Redpath were found dying and unresponsive in the former’s bedroom. Two pistols were found at the scene alongside three spent bullets, two lodged in Ada’s backside and one embedded in Clifford’s forehead. Interestingly, the family has remained very secretive about the entire incident; the case was hushed up and only revealed to the authorities by accident. However, by sorting and weighing the value of the limited contradictory and biased evidence available, it becomes clear that the deaths were not a result of suicide intervention, epileptic insanity,

David Elderidge should be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of murder. Although the defendant claims that he is not guilty, they are wrong because Mr. Elderidge had the motive to kill Mr. Armes, the spatula that killed Mr. Armes had Mr. Elderidge’s fingerprints on it, and Mr. Elderidge was seen at the crime scene by William Warden shortly before Mr. Armes’s death. The first reason in the case was that Mr. Eldridge had a motive to kill Mr. Armes. Sandy Smith testified Mr. Eldridge was in desperate need of money because the bank would repossess his home.
It was in May 1990 when a victim was able to give the Police a description of what the offender looked like, and the forensic serology and odontology methods were used to generate computer composite portrait of the rapist which was published in newspapers, thereafter Paul Bernardo was first identified along with some other suspects. Paul was interviewed by the police, he convinced them he was not responsible, but according to follow procedure the police collected Paul’s samples of hair, blood and saliva for DNA testing. They also collected similar samples from over 130 other suspects for DNA to see if there would be a match. This type of forensic science was new in Canada and the Center of Forensic Science in Toronto had only one qualified technician and scientist. Police later used telephone tapping method to monitor Paul and other
The city of Vancouver had a dreadful reputation early in the 21st century when the world ascertained that there was a serial killer living in the area. The man responsible for this, known as Robert William Pickton, soon became notorious for the crimes he committed on the women who lived in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. Often, individuals who engage in severe criminal activities have some sort of personality disorder brought about by either biological characteristics, environmental factors or both. An individual's upbringing also plays a critical role in future deviant behaviour. If one's parents show love, support, and trust, then that individual is much less likely to engage in deviant activities, On the other hand, if one's parents do not care what their children do and act like they do not exist, then that individual is much more
Canada Reads 2016 ( MD Edition) Robert Pickton is a well known farmer that confessed to murdering forty-nine women, making him one of Canada’s deadliest serial killers in history. Very few Canadians can name one of the women whose DNA was found on his farm. This is ultimately because the vast majority of his victims were from native descent and were involved in the sex trade workforce.
A Texas family put World War II veteran Robert McMinn to rest after he lost his fight with Parkinson's disease, but two months later they received a disturbing call about his body. ABC7 reports the man that served his country by taking part in over 30 bombing missions above Germany was now dripping out of his casket. The family chose the cemetery because they sold themselves using the word 'dignity' on their brochures. Doug said: "It's unthinkable to me that a man, like my father, would go through that."
Mona Lee Wilson, Brenda Ann Wolfe, Tanya Holyk—these names may not ring a bell for many, yet they are just a few names that represent a grim reality and truth that delves into one of the darkest chapters in Canadian history. It’s claimed that 49 women had their lives taken from them by the notorious serial killer Robert “Willy” Pickton, 49 families were left broken and asking questions, 49 birthdays that will be forever changed, and 49 goodbyes left unsaid. These families yearn for closure, but will the dirt where these bodies lay hold more than just a soul, but a disturbing truth that is better left buried? Robert William "Willie" Pickton, born in 1949, gained a notorious reputation as one of Canada's most horrendous serial killers. His gruesome
A serial killer is defined as “an individual who kills more than three people in succession without a cooling off period”. From the beginning of recorded history to the present day, humankind has seen its share of serial killers from Giles De Rais to Jack the Ripper, murder is not a new concept. However in 2006 a new name was added to the ongoing list of serial killers, Robert Pickton, aged 58, plead not guilty to 27 charges of first degree murder. During the course of his trial, a lengthy delay, an error in the charge and an appeal to Supreme Court of Canada are elements which make the Pickton case an unprecedented case in Canadian history.
Roy Brown 1992 Murder & Exoneration Case The United States currently has the most incarcerated people in the world. Most do not know that there are more than two million people currently incarcerated in U.S. prisons. It is estimated that around 2.3% - 5 % of those prisoners are actually innocent. If the number was just one percent, that would mean that 20,000 people currently imprisoned are innocent (Ferner). Roy Arthur Brown, a father of three and guitar teacher from New York, was one of those 20,000+ people that were falsely imprisoned.
Robert William (Willy) Pickton is the most notorious killer Canada has ever seen and arguably the most ruthless the world has witnessed. The now sixty eight year old is convicted of six first degree murders but expected to be responsible for forty-nine or more. With a span of killings from 1983 to 2002 he raped and murdered only women specifically prostitutes in the area of Vancouver and Port Coquitlam. The Pickton's case was hard enough to think about but it had a very strange and bizarre twist, he fed the victims to his pigs. From Pickton's psychotic mind from a troubled childhood to the flaws in our past forensics and policing Robert Pickton's case and story is the most bizzare but interesting backbone for today's law enforcement and forensics.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, you are here because one person in this courtroom decided to take law into her own hands. The defendant, Mrs. Dominique Stephens, murdered the man that she vowed to love. This sole act by the defendant is violation of all morals and her husband’s right to live. Afterwards, she even felt guilty about this violation of justice and called the cops on herself, and she later signed a written statement stating that she is guilty of the murder of Mr. Donovan Stephens. Then the defendant later recanted this statement and said that she only killed Mr. Stephens in self defense.
As you can tell by the title, I’m writing about someone in who has murdered their entire family, all in one house. The murderer's name is Ronald Defeo. This interested me because of how many different stories were heard about this. Before I started doing research on this event, all I knew about this was that someone had murdered his entire family in one night. Others have talked to me about this topic before, but I didn’t think of it as a big case until I started research.
The Architecture and Function of H. H. Holmes’ “Murder Castle” The Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893 celebrated the four hundredth discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. It showcased the incredible progress and marvels of the past century and drew twenty-seven million visitors from every corner of the globe. Of those twenty-seven million who arrived to celebrate and learn, approximately two hundred of those in attendance would not leave Chicago. They checked into the hotel on South Wallace and 63rd Street, exhausted but amazed by all the grand sights they had seen, and were never seen again.
